The TAZUMA-AGM31T is an 825 CCA, 200-minute reserve heavy duty AGM battery for Group 31 commercial vehicles using the SAE stud-terminal configuration — Class 4-7 work trucks, fleet vans, RVs, farm equipment, and commercial service equipment. The right AGM choice for fleet, construction, and commercial operators upgrading from flooded HD batteries — better vibration tolerance, longer service life, and more consistent voltage than flooded under fleet-typical duty cycles. For applications with heavy parasitic accessory loads, frequent deep cycling, or mission-critical fleet duty, Odyssey TPPL is the upgrade path. 24-month full replacement warranty handled directly by West Coast Batteries.

What This Battery Is Built For

Group 31 is the standard battery format for commercial trucks, fleet equipment, and work vehicles in the US. The TAZUMA-AGM31T is the SAE stud-terminal version — the configuration used in HD trucks, work vans, and fleet applications. 825 cold cranking amps handles diesel cranking in cold conditions, and 200 minutes of reserve provides the runtime to power lighting, telematics, lift-gate hydraulics, and accessory loads when the engine is off. Common applications:

  • Class 4-7 commercial trucks: Ford F-450 and F-550, Ram 3500 and 4500, Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD and 4500 HD, Freightliner medium-duty.
  • Cab-over and box trucks: Isuzu NPR and NQR, Hino 195 and 268, GMC W-Series.
  • Fleet vans: Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Ram ProMaster, Ford Transit (HD configurations).
  • RV house battery banks and motorhome chassis batteries.
  • Farm equipment: John Deere and Case IH tractors and combines in Group 31T configurations — for operators upgrading from flooded HD batteries.
  • Light construction and industrial equipment: Bobcat skid steers, compact Caterpillar equipment, and stand-alone industrial generators and compressors.
  • Utility and service equipment: aerial lifts, jobsite equipment, fleet service trucks.

Why AGM Over Flooded for Fleet Duty

A flooded HD battery in a fleet truck deals with conditions that don't apply to a passenger car: chassis-mounted compressors and PTO pumps transmitting vibration to the battery, repeated rough-road impacts, high heat from engine compartment proximity, and the cycling that comes with daily-route fleet use. Each of those conditions is harder on flooded chemistry than on AGM:

  • No liquid acid. AGM absorbs the electrolyte into glass mat separators. Flooded HD batteries — even ones labeled "sealed" or "maintenance-free" — still contain liquid acid that moves under vibration and damages plates over time.
  • Deeper cycling than flooded. AGM tolerates the moderate cycling depth that lift-gate cycling and overnight key-off accessory loads put on the battery during routine fleet duty. Flooded chemistry sulfates faster under repeated cycling.
  • Stable voltage under fleet-typical accessory loads. Modern fleet vehicles run telematics, GPS trackers, refrigeration, and basic upfit electronics from the same battery the engine cranks from. AGM holds voltage more consistently than flooded as the battery cycles.
  • Reduced fleet downtime. For operators tracking battery-related service calls, the durability difference between flooded and AGM HD batteries shows up directly in roadside failure rates and replacement intervals.

Installation

The TAZUMA-AGM31T uses stud terminals — verify your cable end terminals and hardware match before install. At 67 lbs, plan for a two-person lift or use a battery carrier. Confirm Group 31 fitment in your vehicle (Group 31A is top-post and Group 31R is reverse polarity — both are different SKUs).

Frequently Asked Questions

What does AGM actually change over a flooded HD battery?

Flooded HD batteries still have liquid acid inside, regardless of whether they're labeled "sealed" or "maintenance-free." AGM absorbs the electrolyte into glass mat separators, which means better vibration tolerance under chassis flex and rough-road conditions, deeper cycling capability for accessory and aux power loads, and more consistent voltage delivery as the battery ages. For fleet operators, that translates to fewer roadside failures and longer replacement intervals.

How is this different from a Group 31A or Group 31R?

All three share the same case dimensions but use different terminal configurations. The 31T (this product) uses SAE stud terminals — the standard for commercial trucks and fleet vehicles. The 31A uses SAE top posts. The 31R has reverse polarity (positive and negative terminals swapped). Verify your existing battery's label and cable ends before ordering.

I run a fleet. How do I get pricing?

WCB supports fleet accounts directly with volume pricing and stocking programs. Contact our fleet team with your fleet size and typical replacement volume and we'll set up an account that fits your operation.
